Liverpool Walks for groups
"A Public Health walk"
Theme: A guided walk to celebrate the city's many firsts in health
This walk celebrates those who have contributed to the improvement of
public health and welfare in the city. We also celebrate many of Liverpool’s
health-related firsts: Britain’s 1st School for the Blind, the
founding of the district nursing service here, Britain’s first School of
Tropical Medicine, the founding of the NSPCC, Britain’s 1st officer
of Public Health, Britain’s first winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine and
even the country’s first animal welfare association – all happened here in Liverpool
and we visit sites associated with these innovations.
Duration: The walk will last approx. 2 hours.
