"Forgotten Liverpool" Walk

In conjunction with a Blue Badge colleague I will be leading the "Forgotten Liverpool" Walk which ties in with the premiere of the new play "Bright Phoenix" by Jeff Young to be staged at the Everyman in October  2014. The theme will be the forgotten buildings of Liverpool. There will be two walks scheduled initially, both on Saturdays at 11.30 before the matinee and lasting 90 minutes. They will cost £6 with a theatre ticket, which needn't be for the same date as the walk. I will be leading the walk on Saturday 11th October and my  colleague the one on Saturday 18th October. More details can be found here

Previous Everyman walk - no longer bookable

I have been working with the Everyman Theatre to develop some walks of the Hope Street area to run in conjunction with their new play "Hope Place" by writer Michael Wynne with Joe McGann as a somewhat dubious tour guide!

The walks will last 75 minutes and will finish 45 minutes before the performance to allow you to have something to eat or drink. The tickets will cost £5 with a  theatre ticket.

There will be 4 walks in total and I will be leading 2 of them. The walks I will be leading will take place on Friday 16th May at 17.30 (for the 19.30  performance)  and on Saturday 30th May at 12.00 (for the 14.00 performance). A colleague will be leading walks on Weds 21st May and Sat 24th May.

Update: 4 walks mentioned above are now sold out - I will be leading extra ones on Fri 23rd and Wed 28th May. A colleague is leading an extra walk on Fri 30th. These 3 walks are all at 5.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Everyman Theatre on 0151 709 4776. Further details here.

I look forward to seeing some of you again on 16th or 30th.

Pool of Light Walks, November 2008

I led a series of 8 walks in November 2008 of behalf of the "Pool of Light" project.

8 of the best international lighting designers installed 7 light installations (5 in Liverpool, 2 in Birkenhead), following on from a lighting workshop and conference hosted in Liverpool at the end of October.

Members of the public were able to visit the installations by themselves but I also lead guided walks around the 5 Liverpool installations. As well as talking about the installations themselves, I talked about the history and cultures of the area we passed through - namely the Baltic warehouse area, Chinatown and around the Anglican Cathedral and into St James Park. We had the opportunity to view the newly opened Novas Contemporary Urban Centre (a remarkable arts centre housed in a former C19 warehouse) and the opportunity to see these areas from a different perspective, namely after dark.

The walks were a great success with nearly every evening sold out well in advance.

All walks will go ahead regardless of the weather. Please wear suitable footwear and bring a rainproof. We aim to take every care of your safety but you are reminded that you always walk at your own risk

These walks are a few of the many that can be booked by groups, societies, and clubs. Don't hesitate to enquire for full list.
