This walk celebrates those who have contributed to the improvement of pubic heatlh and welfare in the city.  We also celebrate many of Liverpool's health-related "firsts": Britain's first School for the Blind,  the founding of the District Nursing Service here in Liverpool,  the World's first School for Tropical Medicine, the founding of the NSPCC in the city, Britain's 1st Officer of Public Health, the country's first winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine and even the country's first Animal Welfare Association - all happened here in Liverpool and we visit sites associated with these innovations.
